This month, 12 of our teammate owners and 5 friends and loved ones joined together to form Team CHASSEing-a-Cure (a subsidiary of CHASSEing Healthy) to participate in the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s Rim to Rim Xtreme Hike Challenge to help raise money and awareness for cystic fibrosis. Hikers and volunteers come from across the country each year to support the cause. This year, we hiked the canyon, south rim to south rim, covering 18 miles in just one day.
Nearly 40,000 children and adults in the US are living with CF. Two members of our CHASSE family, Lilly and Oliver, battle CF every day.
When Lilly was diagnosed shortly after birth, the life expectancy for those living with CF was 21 years of age. Oliver was born 13 years after Lilly. Both have benefited tremendously from advancements made possible by donors all over the world.
Five years ago, decades of donor-funded research produced a significant therapeutic breakthrough that has improved the lives of many with CF, but a cure has still illuded us. Lilly is 24 years old, working in New York City, and living a life she and her family never thought possible. Oliver’s life will be transformed as well because of the money we raise and the breakthroughs we fund.
