The Marana Vista Academy project transformed a former urgent care facility into a dynamic new high school campus dedicated to Career and Technical Education (CTE). Located at 8333 N Silverbell Road, the adaptive reuse project began in August 2024 and is set to reach substantial completion in July 2025. Purchased by the Marana Unified School District five years prior, the 35,000SF, single story building underwent a complete interior renovation-starting fresh with only the existing block and frame shell intact. Now reimagined to accommodate up to 400 students, the design prioritizes fluidity, flexible learning environments and “pathways to passion”, empowering students to connect their personal interests to future career opportunities. 

Developed in partnership with DLR Group and CHASSE Building Team, the campus features specialized labs and classrooms for programs such as dental assisting, culinary arts, business, and cybersecurity. Traditional and CTE classrooms include expansive glass walls with gradient film and open up into shared collaboration areas designed with flexible furniture, writeable partition walls, and curved headers and floors to promote an approachable and modern learning environment. At the heart of the school is a cafe-style media commons with MCT flooring, interactive display boards, wall graphics, and enhanced audio-visual technology. Teachers can use lanyard microphones that connect to built-in speakers and touchscreen displays throughout the building. Additional features include a four-chair dental suite with sterilization and dark rooms, LED site lighting upgrades, added fencing, reflective window tinting for safety, and custom steel benches near the existing canopy, which was modified for a refreshed look. The project team also salvaged and refinished original millwork, wrapping it in di-noc vinyl to resemble new wood finishes-an approach that preserved resources and delivered significant savings to the District. The Marana Vista Academy is more than a high school. It’s a forward-thinking space built to support core academics, career exploration, and student identity.
