Pima Community College is Changing Education

Pima Community College (PCC) is taking initiative and creating the Center of Excellence which will focus on Applied Technology, Health Professions, Public Safety and Security, the Arts, and Culinary and Hospitality. The Center of Excellence in Applied Technology, which will house Automotive Technology, is one of six being developed by the College in partnership with the industry to ensure the seamless integration of education and training to meet the workforce needs now and well into the future. The Applied Technology Center will focus on transportation, logistics, advanced manufacturing, engineering, and a wide range of building and construction trades.

Partnering with PCC and DLR Group, CHASSE will be building one facet of the Applied Technology Center, which will be named the Automotive Technology and Innovation Center, one of the facilities planned in the renovation and expansion of PCC. This facility will house programs in automotive technology, diesel technology, and electric vehicle technology. These programs will meet the growing demand of dealerships and other employers looking for students certified in today’s technology.

The Automotive Technology and Innovation Center, designed by DLR Group, features an open, high-tech space that allows student and faculty interaction across disciplines and provides flexibility to adapt to future technology needs.

In December, we officially celebrated the groundbreaking of the Center of Automotive Technology and Innovation Center!

School officials, students and community members were all in attendance. Renderings of the 45,000 square foot facility were also on display to show students what their new structure will look like. The facility is scheduled to be complete and operational by Spring 2021.
