Child Crisis Arizona has officially opened their new 38,000-square-foot, west Mesa campus. This campus will not only provide essential resources to the community but will also stand as a model of environmental sustainability. The Center for Child & Family Wellness is the state’s first non-profit, net-zero facility, meaning it will generate as much energy as it consumes each year.
CHASSE Building Team was honored to serve as the General Contractor for the project. The building incorporates biophilic design principles, ensuring ample natural light, ventilation, and integration with the surrounding landscape. Designed by Architectural Resource Team, the campus meets the highest standards for Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and has earned the prestigious Living Futures Petal Project Certification.
To achieve a net-zero facility, the team invested significant time in research and preparation. CHASSE, Architectural Resource Team, engineers, and an energy consultant held weekly meetings during the preconstruction phase to review and align on the project’s overall goal of achieving net-zero operation. These meetings led to the development of numerous environmentally friendly material and system options, including FSC-certified and renewable wood products, regionally sourced materials, energy-efficient compact fluorescent bulbs, Energy Star-rated appliances, water-free urinals that conserve 40,000 gallons per unit annually, touchless faucets in kitchens and restrooms, portion-controlled towel dispensers, a white reflective roof with solar-integrated shade structures, and waste and paper recycling systems.
CHASSE takes pride in being a leader in sustainable construction, with a proven track record of completing numerous LEED-certified and sustainability-driven projects. We’d love to collaborate on your next sustainability-focused project! Click here to contact our team.
