Chick-Fil-A, jenga, construction, oh my! A group of students from the Boys & Girls Club of the East Valley, who are a part of a select group called Leaders In Training, spent the day at CHASSE. The students toured our work environment and members of our team presented about popular topics in construction.
Some of the main topics we discussed were: what a General Contractor does, the variety of career paths within our company and industry, and the wide variety of backgrounds our employees come from (i.e. marketing, accounting, construction management, trade school, architecture, and plenty more).
We also covered the impact technology is having on construction with concepts like Building Information Technology (BIM). The group thought it was unbelievable that you could build a building without leaving your computer! After the presentation, we held a round table discussion on leadership skills, flexibility in your career, and interviewing!
By introducing students to construction early on we hope to make the career path decision a little easier (and fun!). With team members coming form all walks of life, they brought unique experience and knowledge to share with the Leaders In Training.
To top it all off, we ended the day with Chick-Fil-A and giant jenga!
