Earlier this month, we celebrated five beam signings at Granada Elementary, Catalina Ventura School, Sevilla Elementary, Barcelona Elementary and James W Rice Elementary, each one an Alhambra Elementary School District school.
Each school is receiving a brand new gymnasium on their campus which is a first for these schools. CHASSE Building Team was excited to partner with Alhambra Elementary School District on their new Madrid Elementary School Gymnasium last year (shown below)! The new gymnasiums currently being constructed will mimic its unique features and school pride.
Students and staff from each school gathered together for an opportunity to sign the last steel beam of the gymnasium structure. A beam signing signifies an important milestone on a construction project. The placing of the beam is considered a “topping off” ceremony, a long-standing tradition of construction workers, particularly steel workers, to commemorate the completion of a building‘s structure.
Signatures were collected from students ranging from kindergarten to 8th grade, teachers, staff and community members!
