Fly High! West Point High Celebrates Major Milestone

Last week, West Point High School celebrated with their beam signing event! To signify the beam, a steel sheet was created with the Tolleon Union High School District crest that will eventually hang inside the school. Words of encouragement from District Officials, Luke Air Force Base personnel, West Point Academy personnel, the CHASSE project team, and neighboring school districts adorned the steel structure.

Attendees pose for photo and write words of encouragement to future West Point High School students.

Phase 1 of West Point High School is in full-swing. Masonry has been topped out on the first five buildings which includes all steel beams. Roofing has started on Building 300 while framing has begun on Building 300, 400, and 500. Lastly, HVAC, electrical, and plumbing rough-in has begun in Building 300 and 500. These buildings will serve as instructional space, athletics, and common areas for the incoming freshmen and sophomores.

West Point High School has partnered with Luke Air Force Base to provide an academy with rigorous and challenging curriculum and an emphasis on STEAM, which stands for science, technology, engineering, arts, and math. The academy will also focus on leadership, community service, critical thinking skills, and the maximization of our students’ potential. This project is being built in multiple phases to allow freshman and sophomore classes to occupy the campus for the 2019 school year. The remainder of the campus, including the performing arts center, will be completed May 2020.
